The Health Summit is a partnership between the Business Group on Health and LiveWell Lancaster. It is designed to bring together the business community and other community partners to promote better health and wellbeing in our community. In 2017, our focus will be on stress and wellbeing – developing better ways to deal with stress to minimize its impact on our health and the health of our community. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Robert Sapolsky, a noted science and nature writer, biologist and neuroscientist as well as stress expert. The goal of this event is to provide employers and community members with the tools they need to deal with stress in the lives of their employees and the community they are trying to serve. At this event, we will also be presenting the annual Well Workplace Awards in conjunction with LightenUp Lancaster. Awards will go to both large and small employers in our community who have focused on improving the health of their workforce as demonstrated through their completed CDC scorecard. We will also recognize two employers who have used innovation in the development of their programs and demonstrated the impact of their offerings.

Much of the focus of healthcare reform has been on the expansion of health savings accounts (HSAs) as the vehicle by which employees will pay for their healthcare needs. The challenge is that many do not understand how HSAs work and their benefits. Join us to learn from an industry expert as we explore this unique opportunity to save for healthcare expenses in both the near and short term and the role of HSAs in employer sponsored healthcare. Also learn the latest on what is happening in Washington DC that will impact employer sponsored healthcare and the use of HSAs in the future.

What will you learn?

  • • Gain an understanding of how HSAs work and how they can be an effective tool in helping employees budget for their healthcare needs.
  • • Understand the changing political environment and what that means to the benefits you offer to your employees.
  • • Get the latest news on proposed legislation and the impact on your benefit plans.

Who should participate?
Any Human Resources Professional, particularly those responsible for the company’s health benefit plans, health plan brokers and consultants, and financial officers responsible for benefit decisions.

Presented by:
Dr. Bill West, Senior Vice President of Business Development for HealthEquity.
